The first thing to know is that there are actually two kinds of stoves that can technically be called camp stoves. True camp stoves have a few burners, a larger propane canister, and are about the size of a briefcase. It has walls around it to keep the wind from blowing out the burners. Backpacking stoves are sometimes loosely called camping stoves, but they are much different. They are very small, and usually just have one burner fixed to a small gas canister, or one burner with a hose for attaching a gas canister.
Both stoves have their advantages and drawbacks. Backpacking stoves are lighter and easier to transport, but have a very small cooking capacity. Portable camp stoves are slightly heavier and bulkier, but allow for greater quantities to be cooked at one time. The type of camping you are doing determines which type of stove is best, along with other camping equipment & gear.

I don’t think that many people think about it like this but a pair of binoculars are the same thing as a telescope, they are just portable and they do not work as well. Many people look at things in the sky and never take the little bit of time to grab their pair of camping binoculars and look up in the sky to see an object or two. With binoculars you can see the rings of Saturn when it is up in the sky, the red glow of Mars, the moons of Jupiter and many other things. I discovered that not many people knew this when my friend wanted to look at a comet in the sky and said he needed a telescope. I told him that he could use his camping binoculars and he was delighted to tell me the next day that he could see the tail of the comet with his binoculars, camping equipment & gear.

While visiting any modern campsite from the pioneer to the campground, one will find the latest in gadgets to make forays into the woods more comfortable. Gone are the days of bathing in the river or hoofing it to the communal shower. Capitalizing on the consumers desire to bring the comforts of home to the campground, many retailers have introduced portable outdoor showers and toilets.
The range of items available in both aforementioned categories is rather awe-inspiring. For the pioneer camper, there are tripod-style toilets that turn waste into a biodegradable gel and portable showers with bags that heat the water with solar power. The fun doesn’t stop there! Campers preferring a more solitary existence than those provided by dorm-style bathrooms can purchase propane and battery powered water heaters for their pump showers. The shelters for these feats of modern innovation range from those hung from trees to those as study as the tents they stand next to. This is not to get into the luxury that is shower shelving units, found at many outdoor camping store.
All of that goes without even mentioning the camper-style outdoor toilets for sale! Ranging from the basic toilet that you can empty at the waste station on your way back to the city, campground campers can purchase shelters, air fresheners, and biodegradable toilet paper. Needless to say, the variety is astounding.

As a kid I had always enjoyed camping with my family, and now that I have a family of my own I wanted to share that experience with them. It had been years since I had been camping and my wife and I didn’t really know a lot about camping or camping supplies. I did my research and decided that the best Tent solution for my family would be a Family and Cabin Tents. These tents are roomy and have a rigid frame and are mad for summer use as well winter use. These tents also offer the ability to create separate rooms for more privacy or storage.
I’m glad that I did my research because a Cabin tent was the best possible choice for my family. We all enjoyed our first family camping trip very much and look forward to more in the future thanks to this Cabin Tent. Even though I haven’t been camping in years the Tent was easy to set up and my son really enjoyed working together to put it up. If you have a family and you want to go camping I highly recommend a Cabin tent for you.

Camping provides a great opportunity for rest and relaxation away from the sights and sounds of the city. People prefer to go camping whenever they manage to take some time out of their busy schedules. Proper planning and sensible packing can make your trip an enjoyable experience. There are various items needed on a camping trip, you need to carry clothes, blankets, food supplies, first aid, medications, insect repellant, multipurpose kit, reliable and inexpensive tents, sleeping bag, cleaning supplies and lots more. You will need an air pump if you have opted for an air bed.
If you are planning to stay longer in the wilds, it would be best to carry extra food supplies. You can opt for some freeze dried food packets to tide you over during emergencies. Do not depend on fire for your cooking and heating needs. It would be best to carry a small stove or a grill as you can use it to cook your food if there are rains or the campground has restrictions on building a fire. You can also carry folding chairs, waterproof and reliable flashlights, and tables or shelves to store your supplies if you wish to stay a long time at the campgrounds.

People who go camping use various methods of water purification. The aim behind using a water purifier is to consume pure water. Drinking impure and contaminated water can result in severe health problems such as stomach disorders, diarrhea etc. Moreover water filters also remove unwanted matter like chemicals, and other matter which is very harmful to human health.
There are several water filters available in the markets which use different purification methods and techniques. Some filters use ultra-violet method to remove bacteria, virus and other harmful matter. Other types of filters are ceramic filters which are usually in the form of a canister, and can treat small quantity of water. This type of filter is suitable for campers, as they do not need large quantities of water. They are also effective in removing bacteria for the camper. Apart from these, there are distillers and ozonators, which can filter water and remove impurities as well inorganic chemicals. So, depending on your liking, go ahead and get a water filter for your next camping trip, as drinking filtered water is a must to stay healthy.

Sure flashlights have their practical uses when camping. They light your path in the dark, and help you see down trails and aid in rock climbing and fishing. But flashlights have other uses as well. When sitting around the camp fire, telling scary ghost stories, flashlights are a must have for setting a spooky mood, as well.
Flashlights make a scary story even more intense. The storyteller can use a flashlight to illuminate his face and make his mean or suspenseful facial expressions even more intense. Flashlights can cast shadows and create drama during the story. Having only one flashlight on also makes the dark seem darker and the night appear even scarier.
If you don’t want to create fear in the heart of your fellow campers, use a flashlight to make shadow animals. This game has been played by kids for generations. Have your campers try to make animals using their hands and see if other campers can guess what it is. Take a vote on the best or most unique hand creature for added fun.

When setting up your outdoor tent, it is important to keep in mind that you should select a location for anchoring the tent. Anchoring means attaching your tent to something (such as the ground or some other object) that will keep it in place, much like a ship is anchored. This is imperative because without anchoring, your tent could collapse or even blow away in harsh weather conditions.
The best way to anchor your tent is to drive several tent stakes into hard, stable ground. You will need either a hammer or a heavy object to drive the tent stakes into the ground. Look for ground that feels hard to the touch but that isn’t filled with rocks or other debris. If it’s not possible to anchor your tent to the ground, you could try anchoring it to a tree or other immobile object using a rope. Although this will secure the outdoor tent, it may throw it off balance or make parts of it rise up into the air, so it is not optimal. However, it is a better choice than leaving your tent completely unanchored.

Nothing ruins a camping trip more than being cold and wet. It is important to keep the inside of the tent dry, so that you have your own haven away from the elements. Be sure to put seam sealer on all of the seams before you leave home. Yes, it is tedious to apply it, but without sealer the water will come oozing through those seams.
When setting up the floor tent, be sure to choose an even flat spot where water cannot pool. Place a tarp under the tent for a protective ground cover, being sure not to let the tarp extend out beyond the edges of the tent (otherwise rain water dripping off of the rain fly will collect on it and then under the tent). Also put on the rain fly when you set up the tent; it bets trying to find it in the middle of the night in the pouring rain.
One unexpected source of moisture in the tent is your breath. The moisture will condense on the tent walls unless you have adequate ventilation. Be sure to keep vents open at night, and the windows open during the daytime.

An earthquake can be a frightening experience and not being prepared can make the already traumatic experience even worse. A flashlight is of great importance to have after an earthquake. Many times, during an earthquake, electricity is lost and buildings and homes are left without any lights to help navigate your way through them.
Flashlights help peace officers, firefighters and volunteers locate missing people beneath the ruble. Some even provide entertainment for when the chaos settles down a bit. The benefit of having the power of light at your fingertips would have made us gods back in caveman days, now, from small key chain flashlights to flashlights with radios, they are all importantly the same and well to under appreciated.

Having the right supplies handy can determine whether your trip is a success. Planning ahead and having a checklist available will ensure nothing important is left behind. Many times, when camping, stores are hours away, so coming prepared is of upmost importance. Don’t forget to pack essentials as well as items of convenience.
Of course, the tent, bedding and cooking supplies must be packed. But don’t forget extra blankets to be used as padding under a sleeping bed or in case the weather gets chilly. An extra change of clothes and spare tennis shoes often come in handy, as well. Insect repellant, toilet paper, napkins and hand soap should be brought along.
Prescription medication as well as over the counter remedies should not be left behind. A flashlight with extra batteries, a pocket knife, fishing gear, bait and the state required license. Money, credit cards and change should be set aside in case of emergencies. With these items, your trip should be a success!

There are people who have never been on any kind of nature trip like camping, backpacking, hunting or hiking. When they hear their friends talk about their wonderful trip to take your camping equipment, they too wish to go for a camping or a hiking trip. Well, if you are one of those who have never been out in the wild, you too can have an enjoyable experience by reading about it and planning well.
The most important item which should be given proper attention is your tent. If you are a novice and do not know how to set it up, if would be wise to practice it at home preferably in your backyard. This way you will be prepared when you reach the campsite and will be able to easily set it up. You should also carry suitable sleeping bags which provide you with maximum comfort. After being on your feet for the whole day, you need a good night’s sleep and so buy good quality sleeping bag is you do not have one. Carry all the required gear depending on the place you are going, after checking the facilities available at the camp site. If this is your first trip, go with a group of people who have already been on such trips, so that you do not encounter any problems.

There are so many kayaks out there that it isn’t easy to get a good kayak with a good price to go with it. I have some experience in kayaking and my personal choice would have to be a plastic kayak. Plastic kayaks are starting to gain popularity but I find them to be heavy sometimes. Fiber glass kayaks are generally more expensive and according to most people, not worth it.
When it comes to fiber glass verses plastic there are many myths. Some say that the plastic can’t be broken. Although the plastic kayaks can be broken they break much less easily than the fiber glass kayaks. The plastic kayaks are virtually un repairable once broken but as I already mentioned they break un often. Because of this kayakers usually use plastic kayaks if they are going to be paddling in rough and rocky waters. As I already said the plastic kayaks are heavy but so are fibre glass kayaks. If you are going to be carrying your kayaks by hand for long distances then you may want to look into the weight differences for the price.

Cooking at a campsite is part of what makes the whole camping experience so fun, regardless of the camping equipment you may have. There are numerous types of foods you can create that will make the night more festive and fun. Of course you have your standard foods like S’mores and hot dogs. Both of these are fun not only because they are traditional, but because they are something that anyone with a stick can cook. If there are kids with you, sending them into the woods to find the perfect stick can make a great activity while the adults get the fire ready.
For those with simple tastes, you can cook a can of beans, soup or anything that comes in a can directly in the fire next to your camping tent. Simply cut a few holes in the top of the can to let the steam out and carefully place it in the fire. You’ll need tongs to remove it from the fire. Be sure to let it cool when it’s done, open the can and you’re good to go! This is a quick and fun way to get your dinner together after a long day spent hiking or swimming.

My friend has this really cool sharp buck knife which folds into two. On a weekend we went camping and everyone was showing off with something or the other. It is not very abnormal when you are nineteen. My friend had his real sharp knife to show off so we set a task of hunting. We decided that lets have a competition and hunt down an animal for dinner. A few went fishing and argued its equivalent to hunting.
My friend and I dragged on and we went hunting for a duck. Then we decided to look for a rabbit. After searching for a we did see a big white rabbit nibbling on the grass. My friend took a sharp short and in the knife was in the rabbit’ throat. So we finally had a lovely fresh hand cut meat for dinner. For everyone who tried to show off it was my friend who finally won with his sharp knife. The pocket knives must be kept properly should it poke someone whom its not intended to poke. Also a knife is must for a camp.

Camping can be an enjoyable experience if you take the necessary safety precautions. It is essential that you take all the required items for your trip. The most important item for any camper is a tent to stay in during the night and also during adverse weather. Nobody can forecast weather with 100% accuracy and you need to be well prepared for rains and bad weather.
You can put your camp in the perfect location after scouting the surrounding area. Try to find a location which is near a water source if possible. You should look for a clear area for pitching your tent. Do not put the tent at the foot of small mountains as it could create a problem during rains. You should know how to put up the tent else you will be in a soup. At times tents look easy to put up, but, when you really get to the task you find that it is difficult, if you do not know anything about it. Before setting for you’re camping trip it is important to learn to put up a tent. If this is your first trip, it would be better to try to set it up in your backyard at home.

Why is it so important to sharpen your knife? Here are some reasons:
- The sharpening enables duplication of the cutting by removing a thin

My friend and I were very adventurous when we were little. We explored everywhere we could. We hiked until the sun went down over the horizon. As we got older, I began to work down on my uncle’s farm. The day I had to leave, I decided to explore the land and see what I could find. I came across a very dark and deep cave on my uncle’s property. I didn’t have a flashlight so I didn’t venture deep into the cave.
The following year I decided go back down to the farm to work one more time. This time I had brought my friend down with me to work. He likes to this sort of work, so it was considered a vacation, but also work. When we finished up work for the day, I decided to show him the cave. I was telling him how I had found it, but this time I had a flashlight with me. The cave was amazing. We would follow narrow passage ways that led into deep open areas, waterfalls, and stalactites! Without the flashlight, none of the experience was possible.

Flashlights can make the biggest difference on your camping trip. If you forget your flashlight, it is like you are sitting blindly in a dark forest all night. Flashlights allow you to see when the sun goes down and this is important when you are camping, especially if it is raining. When it rains and you don’t have a flashlight then you really have no light source.
A flashlight will be useful to help you find your way around the campgrounds, to the outhouse, or to tell funny stories by the campfire. A camping trip would not be the same without a flashlight and it wouldn’t be safe either. Walking to the outhouse in complete darkness could cause you to fall or get lost. There are certain flashlights that are better to bring camping then others.
One kind of flashlight allows you to change the design and shape of the light being projected from the flashlight. This is fun at night when you are telling stories or making shadow puppets on the tent. A flashlight can really enhance the amount of fun your camping trip can be.

Some friends of ours wanted us to go tent camping with them, but our tent of twenty years was leaking when we last used it. We got it out and tried to set it up so we could patch the holes and spray it with some waterproofing. As we were trying to straighten it op on the poles the canvas started to rip and a huge tear later we decided it was time to buy a new tent.
We made a trip to the local sporting goods store for the latest version of a tent we could stand up in. It was a sic person tent with windows for ventilation and an awning in front for shade and to keep the rain off the zippered door. Looked great on the box so we packed it without ever putting it up to try it out.
The first night we really struggled with getting that tent set up. We arrived after dark and when we got the tent out of the box we could not find any directions! It took hours of trying different combinations to finally get the tent to stand up well enough that we could sleep in it.

If you’re someone who bow hunts on a regular basis, you know the difficulty of choosing the proper arrow for your hunting needs. Many bow hunters often will switch from type to type or brand to brand on a regular basis without considering that this kind of switching off ruins your technique and your equipment over time. Proper choice of an arrow for your specific hunting needs can ensure that you have more success in the wild taking down your target animal, and can result in a much easier and more satisfying experience in your endeavors.
The biggest concern for bow hunters is the proper weight of their arrow and how it can affect their technique and the animals they hunt. As a general rule of thumb, the heavier the arrow weight, the larger the animal that should be hunted with it. Depending on the brand and the construction of the arrow, the manufacturer will denote what they recommend that arrow be used for. Following these directions will ensure more success. In addition, choosing an arrow that will work well in terms of length, shape, and release for both your technique and equipment can ensure that your hunting experience will be a positive one.

One of the newest innovations to hit the market in recent years is the
headlamp. While they have been around for years and used primarily by
miners and other heavy duty construction workers, they have most
recently adapted for use as a camping flashlight. Inexpensive,
adjustable, and lightweight – a camping headlamp really might be the
right choice for you.
But can it replace traditional flashlights altogether? Well, it
depends on what you need it for. If you are an avid outdoorsman, and
often find yourself on long, late night treks through the woods or
countryside, a headlamp is probably a good choice. This will keep your
hands free for holding a walking staff or anything else you may need
to hold onto during your hike.
Furthermore, with a headlamp you won’t have to worry about losing or
misplacing your flashlight. Since it’s strapped right on your head it
will always be with you and easily accessible when you need it.
Headlamps can also make any work you may have to do in a dark campsite
a little bit easier. With the light aimed wherever you are looking,
this once again leaves your hands free to hold tools or anything else
you might need.

Many hunters who wish to get closer to their prey opt to wear camouflage while out in the wilds of the forests or the prairies. Unfortunately, the commercially available camouflage isn’t for everyone. Much of the commercially produced materials for hunters these days are composites which are prone to fast weathering, breaking down fairly easily, or otherwise becoming ineffective for protection and concealment over a period of time. For the hunter looking to get the most for their money, commercial camouflage is an area where hunters need to do their homework.
For the best camouflage, the best area to start with in terms of what to look for is the construct. Many materials are good for the hunt but are badly put together, or can be assembled well but not effective enough to catch your target. Looking for a better construction can ensure durability, even if the material is less than stellar. That being said, lighter weight, synthetic materials have become better for camouflage than thicker materials. They often wick moisture away better and withstand other environmental factors better than other materials often for less money.
